Swabodhini launched our Assisted Employment Program in 2021 with great hope and ambition, marking a significant step towards inclusive employment. This first-of-its-kind initiative was developed in partnership with Grundfos Pumps and follows a unique “place and train” model.
The Assisted Employment Unit operates within the premises of Grundfos, where students from Swabodhini’s vocational training programs are placed directly in a real work environment and trained on the job. This approach enables students to gain firsthand workplace experience, develop essential skills, and transition gradually from a school setting to professional life.
A qualified Job Coach plays a key role in this journey by mentoring and supporting students, helping them adapt to workplace expectations, and guiding them in developing appropriate social and professional behaviours. Through this structured support, students are empowered to work alongside their peers, build confidence, and contribute meaningfully by earning a monthly stipend.
We are proud to note that students in the program have shown remarkable progress, adapting well to the demands of a full working day, with some advancing to higher levels of training and responsibility.

Swabodhini has initiated an in-house Assisted Employment model to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for individuals with special needs.
This model is specifically designed for students who may not be immediately placed in external work environments, ensuring that they still have access to meaningful employment within a safe and supportive setting.
As part of this initiative, a Popcorn Manufacturing Unit has been established in partnership with Advantage Foods Pvt. Ltd. Students are engaged in real-time production activities, enabling them to develop practical skills and work discipline.
The infrastructure for this unit has been supported by Grundfos Pumps through the Community Engagement Award 2022 from the Grundfos Foundation.
A dedicated Job Coach is present to assist, guide, and train students on a daily basis, helping them adapt to work routines and build confidence. Through this model, students also earn a monthly stipend, enabling them to contribute financially to their families.
More importantly, the program focuses on building independence, dignity, and self-reliance, creating a pathway for individuals to lead more empowered lives.
Swabodhini continues to strengthen this model with the vision of making every individual as independent as possible, while promoting inclusive and sustainable employment opportunities.

As a natural progression of our vocational training programs, students who acquire the necessary skills are supported in exploring self-employment opportunities. This initiative is designed to help individuals build their own livelihoods and become financially independent.
